ARC-WA is funded by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), as part of their Research Preparedness Program, dedicated to building a resilient and sustainable clinical research ecosystem that can support both routine vaccine development and rapid outbreak research response.
The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) is a global partnership dedicated to accelerating the development of vaccines and ensuring equitable access during outbreaks. CEPI works to strengthen global health security by fostering collaboration, advancing vaccine technologies, and supporting pandemic preparedness initiatives.
Technical Coordinating Partner (TCP)
ARC-WA is coordinated by the TCP, a partnership between the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) and the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia (MRCG) at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
The International Vaccine Institute (IVI) is a nonprofit International Organization established in 1997 as an initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It is among the few organizations in the world dedicated to vaccines and vaccination for global health.​​​
The MRC Unit The Gambia (MRCG) at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is a leading research center addressing health challenges in sub-Saharan Africa. With expertise in Vaccines, Disease Control, and Nutrition, it advances global health through research, capacity building, and partnerships​.
Collaborating Partners
ARC-WA and the TCP work closely with several partners, to promote alignment and sustainability across the ecosystem. This includes the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), the West African Health Organization (WAHO), as well as other CEPI delivery partners, such as IQVIA, Edes & Associates and IAVI.
Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is a specialized institution of the African Union, dedicated to strengthening public health systems in Member States. It enhances their ability to prevent, detect, and respond to disease threats across the continent.
West African Health Organization (WAHO) is an ECOWAS institution focused on improving public health across West Africa. It promotes research, supports medical training, strengthens health systems, and fosters regional collaboration to address health challenges like disease outbreaks and maternal and child health​.

Margan Clinical Research Organization (MMARCRO) is an organization which is based in Accra Ghana and set up to provide meticulous and innovative Phase I-IV clinical trial management and monitoring services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies.
Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM) is Germany’s leading institution for tropical medicine and infectious disease research. It is dedicated to advancing global health by studying, preventing, and combating infectious diseases.
